Position Overview
First American is seeking a 1031 Exchange Coordinator to join our dynamic team. In this position, you will support Exchange Officers and collaborate with both local and national internal and external clients to initiate, manage, and finalize 1031 tax-deferred exchanges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Initiate Exchanges - assist or collaborate with exchange officers in the following:
- Gain expertise in 1031 regulations and effectively address client inquiries
- Manage incoming calls and inquiries
- Examine purchase agreements and title reports
- Prepare necessary documentation for relinquished and replacement property transactions
- Adhere to company protocols and comply with accounting policies
- Manage Processes - assist or collaborate with exchange officers in the following:
- Track deadlines and closing schedules
- Oversee all financial aspects of exchange files
- Ensure timely management of the exchange process
- Finalize Transactions - assist or collaborate with exchange officers in the following:
- Review preliminary closing statements for approval
- Facilitate the acceptance and distribution of funds in accordance with 1031 regulations
- Collect fee income and ensure all documentation is signed and finalized
- Perform additional tasks as requested by the exchange officer to facilitate the exchange process
- Client Relations/Business Development
- Address issues and manage client relationships
- Follow up with current and prospective clients to enhance business opportunities
- Collaborate with exchange officers, managers, and sales representatives to drive business growth
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- 1-3 years of administrative experience preferred
- Experience in real estate or legal fields (such as escrow officer or assistant) is advantageous but not mandatory
- Familiarity with (or willingness to learn) fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures relevant to the role
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Detail-oriented approach to tasks
- Able to establish effective working relationships with team members
This range represents a reasonable estimate of the base pay for this position at the time of posting. Compensation is influenced by various factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business needs, and geographic location.
