Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

The Float Nurse is responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to a designated group of patients within the healthcare facility. This role involves collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The Float Nurse will adhere to established protocols and guidelines while supervising and assigning tasks to support staff.
Willingness to receive training in Med/Surg, Emergency Department, and Intensive Care Unit is essential.
Reports to: Director of Nursing
FLSA Status: Non-exempt

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Educational Qualifications

Associate's Degree in Nursing is mandatory.
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is advantageous.

Experience

1-3 years of nursing experience is preferred, with recent acute care experience within the last three years being ideal.

Essential Skills

This position requires strong critical thinking abilities, sound judgment, and the capacity to work independently. The Float Nurse must thrive in high-pressure situations and respond effectively to emergencies. Excellent communication skills are vital.

Certifications Required:

Basic Life Support (BLS)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Handle with Care certification within four months of hire.

Licensure:

Must possess a current RN license to practice in North Carolina (either NC licensure or a multi-state compact license).
