Curry Transfer & Recycling, a Waste Connections company, is seeking a motivated Transfer Station Operations Specialist. This role involves overseeing the Transfer Station Scale House operations, ensuring efficient and safe processing of incoming vehicles.

Compensation: Starting pay ranges from $24 to $25 per hour, depending on experience, with opportunities for regular wage increases.

Requirements: Candidates must possess a valid Class B or Class A CDL (Class A preferred).

Drug and alcohol testing will be conducted as per company policy, including pre-employment and random selection testing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for vehicles entering the site, managing traffic flow and maintaining a secure working environment.
  • Act as the scale house attendant, engaging with customers directly.
  • Calculate and charge for waste loads using basic mathematical skills.
  • Process payments via cash or credit card.
  • Operate various equipment such as forklifts, excavators, and backhoes as required.
  • Drive tractor trailers when necessary.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the yard and facility.
  • Learn and understand the operational procedures of the transfer station.
  • Assist in spotting trucks as needed.
  • Perform additional job-related tasks as assigned, with duties subject to change based on operational needs.
Position Requirements:
  • Class A CDL is preferred; Class B is the minimum requirement. Candidates must be capable of driving commercial vehicles to and from the transfer site.
  • Ability to operate both manual and automatic transmission vehicles.
  • Commitment to adhering to company policies and safety standards, demonstrating honesty and integrity.
  • Ability to maintain a consistent work schedule and address challenges as they arise.
  • Basic understanding of truck components for conducting pre- and post-trip inspections.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience, preferably in a labor-intensive role.
  • Experience operating equipment such as forklifts, skid steers, or excavators is preferred.
  • Capability to perform physically demanding tasks, including heavy lifting and unloading, often without assistance.
Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed outdoors, with exposure to varying weather conditions, including wet and humid environments, as well as potential exposure to fumes and vibrations. Noise levels are typically moderate.
  • The role requires extensive physical activity, including heavy lifting and moving objects exceeding 50 pounds.
  • Frequent walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, and climbing are necessary.
  • Work may involve some physical risks, necessitating adherence to basic safety precautions.
