Position Overview

We have openings for Computational Physicists focused on developing multi-physics simulation codes that address critical national security issues. In this role, you will:

  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to enhance large-scale multi-physics simulation capabilities.
  • Engage in projects related to Stockpile Stewardship, nuclear counter-terrorism, and high energy density physics experiments.
  • Lead the development of models and algorithms for high-performance computing environments.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Creating algorithms and simulation tools to advance multi-physics simulations for various physical processes.
  • Conducting thorough analyses of physics capabilities to support a diverse user community.
  • Providing technical support and training for simulation tool users.
  • Influencing research strategies and technical directions within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Presenting research findings at scientific conferences and in peer-reviewed publications.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • A PhD in physics, mathematics, engineering, or a related field.
  • Expertise in advanced concepts such as shock hydrodynamics, fluid mechanics, and radiation transport.
  • Proficiency in programming languages including Python, FORTRAN, C, and/or C++.
  • Experience in developing and implementing numerical algorithms for parallel computing architectures.
