Job Title: Investigator Board of Police Commissioners

Under the supervision of the Supervising Investigator and/or Chief Investigator, the Investigator will conduct investigations of citizen complaints and perform related duties as required. The Investigator will also attend other assignments as directed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Initiate and conduct citizen complaint investigations as assigned.
  • Review and perform follow-up investigations of police department investigations as assigned.
  • Receive and maintain records of citizen complaints.
  • Obtain statements, gather reporting information, documents, and evidence as needed.
  • Examine court, police, public, and governmental records needed for the investigation.
  • Research laws, ordinances, rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Attend and testify as needed at judicial, administrative, and disciplinary hearings.
  • Conduct complaint investigations and prepare comprehensive reports of investigations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • At least one year of investigative experience.
  • Valid State of Michigan Driver's License.
