Job Summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse for the Inpatient Oncology Unit. As an oncology nurse specialist, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and contributing to a dynamic team environment.

About the Role

This 36-bed Intermediate Care Unit cares for patients with cancer, offering a range of treatments including chemotherapy, hospice care, radiation therapy, and stem cell transplants. Our team of compassionate RNs monitors physical conditions, prescribes medication, and administers treatments to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and admit patients, conducting thorough medical histories and developing personalized care plans
  • Round on patients regularly, monitoring their condition and adjusting treatment as needed
  • Administer medications and treatments, ensuring accurate dosages and minimizing side effects
  • Communicate effectively with family members and caregivers, providing education and support throughout the patient journey
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment, working closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care

Requirements

  • RN License
  • BSN or MSN preferred
  • BLS within 90 days of hire
