The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Cardiac ICU Physician Assistant to join our multidisciplinary team in the Pediatric Critical Care/Cardiology division at Children's Hospital in Dallas. As a key member of our team, you will provide comprehensive care to pediatric patients with a wide range of congenital and acquired heart disease.
Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive initial and ongoing physical examinations, including psychological status assessments.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate patient plans of care, including ordering and interpreting laboratory, radiology, and other diagnostic studies/results.
- Provide relevant management, referrals, counseling, and education to patients, families, and caregivers related to current care and preventive health measures.
- Collaborate with our team to improve clinical and system practice performance through quality-related initiatives.
- Participate in research projects and protocols, and apply evidence-based best practices to patient care.
- Master's degree or higher in nursing or a related field, with completion of an accredited Advanced Practice Education Program.
- Acute Care Certification required.
- One year of pediatric cardiology experience providing medical care and post-operative experience preferred.
- Licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by the Texas State Board of Nursing, or licensure as a Physician Assistant by the Texas Physician Assistant Board.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification by the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
