Role Responsibilities
The Environmental Litigation Associate will engage in a variety of tasks in collaboration with senior attorneys and support staff, including:
- Conducting thorough investigations, legal research, and case development.
- Participating in the preparation of legal documents, including motions and briefs.
- Representing Earthjustice in various legal proceedings and administrative hearings.
- Preparing comments on proposed agency actions and environmental assessments.
- Contributing to a diverse and inclusive workplace culture.
- Developing skills for effective media engagement.
- Assisting in the mentorship and supervision of law clerks.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate is required.
- Must be licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction or be willing to apply for membership within a specified timeframe.
- 2-5 years of experience in litigation and legal advocacy, preferably in energy-related matters.
- Strong research, analytical, writing, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated work ethic, sound judgment, and creativity.
- Willingness to travel as necessary for case-related activities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams.
- High emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment.
- Passion for public interest work and a commitment to Earthjustice's mission.
