Our primary role in mortgage servicing involves managing loan portfolios on behalf of our clients, which include banks and real estate investment firms. This entails collecting mortgage payments from homeowners, handling tax and insurance payments, and assisting homeowners who are facing difficulties in meeting their mortgage obligations.

Key Responsibilities

The Investor Accounting Analyst II plays a crucial role in preparing monthly bank reconciliations for various custodial accounts, which may include FNMA, FHLMC, GNMA, or Private Portfolios. This position involves managing accounts that present moderate to high complexity. The Analyst will also mentor junior team members and contribute to the development of process documentation, automation, and analytical insights to ensure we deliver exceptional service to our investors and clients.

Main Duties
  • Conduct monthly cashbook reconciliations and verify expected reconciliations for investor custodial accounts, including Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Ginnie Mae, and Private portfolios.
  • Execute monthly reconciliations for customer Escrow accounts.
  • Perform daily and monthly reconciliations of Clearing accounts.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in loans and accounts, ensuring compliance with investor and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with Investor Reporting team members to address issues within investor accounts.
  • Adhere to established procedures and controls throughout the monthly reconciliation process.
  • Support internal and external audit activities.
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel extensively for data analysis and reporting tasks.
  • Manage ad-hoc reporting or research as assigned by management.
  • Perform calculations involving interest and percentages; balance accounts; and accurately execute mathematical operations using various units of measure.
  • Identify, reconcile, and promptly resolve all investor-related issues and reconciliation discrepancies.
  • Analyze operational, reporting, or data challenges and propose solutions or process enhancements to management.
  • Carry out additional responsibilities as directed by management.

Qualifications
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is required; a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred.
  • 2-4 years of experience in Mortgage Servicing is required; prior experience in Investor Accounting is preferred.

Skills and Abilities
  • Proficient in advanced MS Excel.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude.
  • Experience with SQL or other database reporting tools is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Servicing Director is advantageous.
  • Understanding of fundamental accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent analytical skills, particularly in evaluating internal control weaknesses.
  • Comprehensive understanding of operational risks and associated controls.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Self-driven with a keen attention to detail and outstanding organizational abilities.
