Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse III Educator to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a key member of our nursing staff, you will be responsible for coordinating and implementing the Nursing Education Program at our State Supported Living Centers (SSLCs).

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and implement the Nursing Education Program at the SSLCs, ensuring that all nursing staff receive comprehensive training and education.
  • Orient new nursing staff to facility protocols, guidelines, and procedures, ensuring a smooth transition into their roles.
  • Evaluate and test the competency skills and knowledge of all new and incumbent nursing staff, ensuring that they meet the required standards.
  • Develop and maintain systems to ensure nursing education/competency is provided for all nurses, including tracking and updating data related to Nursing Education.
  • Collaborate with the Nursing Coordinator and state-office work group to write and revise nursing guidelines, ensuring that they are up-to-date and compliant with state and federal regulations.
  • Provide treatment to HHS employees injured in the course and scope of employment, demonstrating a commitment to the health and well-being of our staff.
  • Work independently and productively with all levels of staff, including nursing students, to provide training and education on health maintenance and prevention issues.
  • Participate in designated committees as assigned, contributing to the development of policies and procedures that support the mission of the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services.
Requirements
  • Considerable knowledge of nursing techniques, standards, and procedures, as well as health care laws and regulations.
  • Ability to interpret policies and procedures, as well as health care regulations, and communicate them effectively to others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly and concisely in both written and oral communications.
  • Ability to work independently and productively with all levels of staff, including nursing students, to provide training and education on health maintenance and prevention issues.
  • Ability to make decisions and recommendations to SSLC leadership, including on-call administrators.
  • Current CPR certification and the ability to safely perform CPR.
Working Conditions

This position may be required to work alternate shifts due to the staffing needs of the facility. The ability to work independently and productively with all levels of staff, including nursing students, is essential for success in this role.
