Job Summary
The Sales Manager plays a critical role in driving revenue growth and achieving hotel profit objectives. This is a key leadership position that requires a strong sales background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal direction.
Key Responsibilities
- Solicit, negotiate, and book new and repeat business through various efforts, including outside sales calls, telemarketing, mailings, referrals, networking, etc. to maximize room revenue.
- Develop and implement a sales plan for the hotel, contributing to the development of a sales/marketing budget and monitoring actual results against budget goals.
- Notify/coordinate customer specifications with other departments and quickly, efficiently respond to customer issues, comments, and problems to ensure a quality experience and enhance future sales prospects.
- Survey, review, and analyze competition, market trends, as well as customer needs and comments to develop new plans and programs and determine the potency of current plans and programs.
- Implement Company/Brand programs and manage the operations of the department in a manner consistent with the Company's policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate, legible records and files to provide group histories, rooming lists, group blocks, drop dates, and Banquet Event orders.
- Participate in trade shows and community and professional organizations to maintain high visibility for the hotel and enhance revenue opportunities.
- Complete special projects and participate in task forces and committees as assigned.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in business, hospitality, or related field or equivalent combination of education & experience.
- 3+ years of work experience in hotel sales/marketing.
- 1+ years of work experience in a Sales management position.
- 1+ years of work experience with the brand.
- Proven successful track record in a sales position.
- Must have a valid Driver License and own transportation.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Local travel is required weekly, and national travel may be required on an annual basis to attend corporate or functional meetings.
