Key Responsibilities:
The Lead Tax Compliance Specialist undertakes moderately complex tax assignments and may guide a small team of Tax Accountants in providing technical support to the tax division. Adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local tax regulations in line with Arvest's policies is essential.
Core Duties Include:
• Preparing and submitting for review moderately complex federal pro forma tax returns.
• Preparing and submitting for review moderately complex state income tax returns.
• Conducting initial reviews of less complex federal and state income tax returns.
• Preparing and submitting for review moderately complex quarterly tax provision calculations.
• Performing initial reviews of less complex monthly tax provision calculations.
• Preparing and submitting for review tax schedules required for federal bank reporting.
• Assisting with various tax-related projects such as tax credits, fixed asset reviews, and state apportionment.
• Reviewing annual information reporting data from all entities within the bank group and communicating necessary adjustments.
• Researching moderately complex tax issues and documenting findings.
• Conducting quarterly analyses of internal financial data for new tax implications.
• Responding to inquiries from governmental revenue bodies under general supervision.
• Researching and interpreting tax laws and regulations relevant to new business lines and transactions.
• Understanding and complying with bank policies, laws, regulations, and the bank's BSA/AML Program as it pertains to job responsibilities. This includes completing compliance training and adhering to internal procedures and controls; reporting any known violations of compliance policies, laws, or regulations, and any suspicious customer or account activity.
Qualifications for Success:
• A Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field that includes the necessary coursework to qualify for the CPA exam or relevant military experience is required.
• A minimum of 3 years of corporate tax experience is required.
• Progress towards obtaining CPA designation or an advanced degree in Business (such as MSA, MST, or MBA) is required.
• Experience in bank taxation is preferred.
• Relevant military experience is acknowledged for veterans and transitioning service members.
Physical Requirements:
