Job Overview

At Crossland Heavy Contractors Inc, we are seeking a skilled Estimator/Preconstruction professional to join our team. As an Estimator/Preconstruction Specialist, you will play a critical role in managing and leading estimating efforts, supervising a team of estimators as job requirements dictate.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in estimating accurately and comprehensively the amounts of materials, equipment, and labor necessary for construction projects. They will work closely with drawings and specifications to prepare a complete estimate to construct the project at task.

  • Attend Pre-Bid Meetings and conduct pre-bid jobsite visits to ensure a thorough understanding of project requirements.
  • Develop and implement effective time management strategies to efficiently schedule the completion of multiple bids within tight deadlines.
  • Analyze past costs to identify labor production and equipment needs, and thoroughly understand plans and specifications.
  • Utilize estimating software, such as Bluebeam, and on-screen tools to assist with quantity take-offs and compile detailed quantity take-offs.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers through effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Obtain and review quotes from subcontractors/suppliers/business partners to confirm best price and work scope coverage.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices in road/bridge construction, water/wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, lift stations, and utility work.
  • Enter labor, material, equipment, subcontractors, and project overhead for each respective project.
  • Demonstrate expertise in Microsoft Excel, Bluebeam, On-screen, and Agtek, and work in accordance with Crossland core values: trust, integrity, responsibility, and passion.

Requirements:

2+ years of experience in estimating, including experience with water/sewer treatment plants.

A bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related field is preferred.

Experience in Estimating (Heavy/Civil) is preferred.

Strong business and financial knowledge, and the ability to build relationships with industry partners.
