Job Overview

Position Summary:

Ray Graham Association is seeking a dedicated part-time Recreation Support Specialist to assist individuals with and without disabilities in a variety of recreational activities, special events, and fitness programs. This role is essential in fostering a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for all participants while embodying the organization's core principles of commitment, respect, assistance, and enjoyment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct support and assistance to participants during recreational and sports activities.
  • Encourage and facilitate active participation in diverse recreational programs.
  • Collaborate with Program Coordinators for effective guidance and program management.
  • Maintain flexible working hours, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
  • Ensure a secure and engaging environment for all participants.
  • Adhere to the Mission & Values of the Ray Graham Association.

Qualifications:

Essential Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of experience working with individuals with disabilities in a recreational, community agency, educational, or employment context is preferred.
  • Minimum age requirement of 17 years.
  • High School diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Valid Illinois driver's license required for candidates aged 21 and older.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Must be able to pass a CHIRP and CANTS background check.
  • Ability to lift and transfer individuals weighing up to 75 lbs.

Work Schedule: This is a part-time position offering up to 20 hours per week, including evenings and weekends.

Compensation: $14.00 per hour
