Job Summary

The Environmental Services Technician plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of patient rooms, offices, and hallways within the hospital. This position requires a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work independently to ensure that all areas are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cleaning and Sanitizing: Perform a variety of heavy cleaning tasks to maintain patient rooms, offices, and hallways, including dusting, mopping, and disinfecting surfaces.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Inspect and maintain cleaning equipment, including floor care machines and other necessary tools, to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Supply Management: Fill requisitions for housekeeping supplies, deliver and replenish nursing unit supply closets, and stage housekeeper carts with supplies, chemicals, and mops.
  • Patient Safety: Participate in patient safety rounding, monitor patients for signs of distress, and alert nursing personnel when intervention or clinical monitoring is required.
  • Floor Care: Maintain hard surface floors by following the correct processes for daily and periodical floor care, including stripping and refinishing procedures.
  • Carpet Care: Maintain soft surface floors (carpet) by following the correct processes for daily and periodical carpet care, including spotting techniques.
  • Waste Management: Transport regular waste, medical waste, and linen to appropriate collection sites from patient rooms, and ensure that soiled utility rooms and waste carts are kept clean at all times.
Requirements:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Valid Arizona driver's license required for those environmental services tech positions that will be required to drive HonorHealth vehicles.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 45 pounds, push and pull up to 40 ft lbs of force, and stand and walk for extended periods.
