Job Summary:
Benton Franklin Head Start is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Maintenance Technician to join our team. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for performing routine preventative maintenance and repairs on our buildings and playgrounds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance duties to ensure the upkeep of our facilities, including electrical, plumbing, and carpentry tasks.
- Repair and replace minor electrical and plumbing components, as well as perform other related maintenance activities.
- Maintain facilities by performing minor and routine painting, and assist with remodeling projects.
- Lift and move furniture and equipment as needed, and provide services requiring light carpentry skills.
- Pick up and deliver supplies and materials, and assist with vehicle maintenance.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests, including clogged toilets, failed alarms, and detached furniture.
- Clean heat registers, air conditioner vents, and coils, and replace air conditioner filters as needed.
- Ensure water temperatures are properly maintained, and complete 30-second emergency lighting tests.
- Maintain records of scheduled maintenance procedures, and prioritize and respond to work order requests.
- Assess the safety condition of playground equipment and mulch, and make immediate corrections to unsafe conditions.
- Power wash buildings, walkways, floors, and playground equipment as needed, and report safety, sanitation, and fire hazard conditions to the supervisor.
- Rake and measure bark on a monthly basis, and perform outdoor custodial duties such as site cleanup and snow removal.
- Spot clean carpets as needed, and may obtain estimates for supplies and repair parts.
- Maintain maintenance supplies, and attend safety meetings, professional development, and training as requested.
- Interact with Agency staff and the public in a professional and respectful manner, and be responsible for maximizing and documenting in-kind contributions.
- Ability to drive, including travel to multiple sites.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- Three years of general building maintenance experience, including light plumbing, painting, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical skills
- Knowledge of local health/safety regulations, ADA, and OSHA requirements
- Knowledge of equipment operations, tools, and terms used in building maintenance work
- Experience in playground safety preferred, or commitment to complete a playground safety training course
