Objective

The Campus Center for the Environment serves as a student-operated, student-financed environmental advocacy group within the Associated Students of the University of California, Davis (ASUCD). Our mission is to foster student engagement in sustainability initiatives on campus. We promote environmental responsibility through educational workshops and specific student-led projects, while also facilitating collaboration among environmentally focused student organizations and relevant campus departments.

The primary objective of this role is to oversee and maintain the Chicken Ranch situated at the ASUCD Garden.

Responsibilities

Organizing and recruiting volunteers and members for the chicken ranch. Assigning tasks and projects to suitable club members. Overseeing food production in the bug and garden areas of the coop. Sourcing free and low-cost resources for the chickens, including but not limited to: coops, feed, plants, tools, transportation, and advertising opportunities. Managing the flock's population effectively. Providing necessary medical care for the chickens, such as nail trimming, deworming, and testing for lice and mites. Ensuring resource availability at the chicken coop, including food and water. Performing additional tasks as directed by the Unit Director.

Qualifications

Strong verbal and written communication abilities. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Proven leadership and time management capabilities. Basic understanding of chicken care, with training provided.

Education and Experience:

Must be a UC Davis undergraduate or veterinary student in good academic standing. Affiliation with the ImPeckable Chicken Club is required. Preferred major in Animal Science or Veterinary studies.
