Objective
The Campus Center for the Environment operates as a student-led initiative focused on environmental advocacy under the Associated Students of the University of California, Davis (ASUCD). This organization aims to foster student engagement in sustainability efforts across the campus. CCE promotes ecological responsibility through educational workshops and various student-driven projects, while also facilitating collaboration among environmental groups and pertinent campus departments.
The primary responsibility of this role involves overseeing and maintaining the Chicken Ranch situated within the ASUCD Garden.
Responsibilities
Organizing and recruiting volunteers and members for the chicken ranch initiative. Assigning tasks and projects to suitable club participants. Overseeing food production in the bug and garden areas of the coop. Sourcing free or low-cost supplies for the chickens, including but not limited to: coops, feed, plants, tools, transport solutions, promotional opportunities, and partnerships with clubs and classes. Managing the flock's population effectively. Providing necessary medical care for the chickens, such as nail trimming, deworming, and testing for parasites. Ensuring resource availability at the chicken coop, including food and water supplies. Performing additional tasks as directed by the Unit Director.Qualifications
Strong verbal and written communication abilities. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Proven leadership and time management capabilities. Basic understanding of poultry care, with training provided.Educational Background:
Must be a UC Davis undergraduate or veterinary student in good academic standing. Affiliation with the ImPeckable Chicken Club is required. Preferred major in Animal Science or Veterinary Studies.
