Job Overview

The Laundry Service Specialist is responsible for ensuring the effective retrieval, processing, and distribution of laundry services to guests. This role is essential in maintaining the high standards of cleanliness and efficiency expected in our establishment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Sort and assess stained or damaged items to determine whether they should be rewashed or discarded, while keeping an ongoing inventory of discarded items.
  • Operate ironing and folding machines in accordance with established specifications, ensuring that cleaned items are processed correctly.
  • Carefully fold cleaned items and organize them into designated stacks by type and size, placing them in specified distribution areas.
  • Regularly clean lint and debris from dryer filters as per departmental guidelines.
  • Utilize cleaning chemicals in compliance with OSHA regulations and hotel standards.
  • Inspect laundry machinery for cleanliness and proper working condition.
  • Monitor the use of chemicals and water to optimize consumption.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas throughout the shift.
  • Restock supplies in work areas for the next shift as required.
  • Ensure all lost and found items and guest room keys are turned in promptly.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Follow safety and security protocols diligently.
  • Be knowledgeable about department fire prevention and emergency procedures.
  • Utilize protective equipment as necessary.
  • Report any unsafe conditions to management immediately.
  • Document accidents, injuries, near-misses, property damage, or loss to management.
  • Contribute to a safe work environment by following all safety and security procedures.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance in accordance with company standards.
  • Assist other housekeeping personnel as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to push heavy carts.
  • A combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • No prior experience is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent bending while loading and unloading washers and dryers, sorting linens, and folding items.
  • Continuous movement throughout the department is required.
  • Standing is necessary for the duration of the shift.
  • Frequent twisting, bending, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, talking, hearing, seeing, and smiling are essential.
