Join Our Team as a Systems Engineer

Star Catcher Industries, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer to support the development of space-to-space power beaming spacecraft and the Star Catcher Network, its orbital power grid. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the development, integration, and testing of complex space systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement interdisciplinary approaches to plan, design, and verify lifecycle balanced systems and system solutions.
  • Evaluate operational and customer needs to define system performance requirements and ensure compatibility of all physical, functional, and program interfaces.
  • Analyze and optimize total system and/or system architecture for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, and certification.
  • Support the planning, organization, implementation, and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management, and technology readiness.
  • Plan and conduct tests to validate that systems meet performance criteria and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team to integrate systems into spacecraft, satellites, and other systems, ensuring compatibility with design specifications and operational requirements.
  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation of system designs, testing procedures, and project status to ensure transparency and compliance.
  • Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets related to systems engineering tasks.
  • Support business development efforts for proposals and bids.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field; Master's or PhD preferred.
  • At least five years of experience in systems engineering, in an aerospace manufacturing environment or other relevant industry experience.
  • Creative problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop innovative solutions to advanced engineering challenges.
  • Experience leading the development of space systems for challenging environments and missions.
  • Experience with MBSE (Model Based System Engineering).
  • Experience with NASA/DoD lifecycle reviews (e.g. SRR, PDR, CDR).
  • Experience with requirement tracking tools.
Desired Skills:
  • Familiarity with configuration management practices.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to interface with the team and organization and prioritize tasks, projects, and personnel from a variety of disciplines.
  • Possesses a broad background in systems engineering.
  • Experience using software tools for performing complex analyses (Excel, MatLab, custom tools).
