Respiratory Therapist PEDS NICU

About the Role
Medical City Dallas is seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). As a Respiratory Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and working collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.
Responsibilities
- Perform and document patient assessments, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
- Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for and response to respiratory therapy.
- Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
- Assist with placement of artificial airways and initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
- Monitor patients for therapeutic response and notify providers and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response.
- Assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients and respond to emergent patient situations, ensuring airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation as required.
Requirements
- Neonate Resuscitate certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- Certificate in Respiratory Care or equivalent.
- RRT/Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT/RCP) or Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician (CRTT) or Licensed Certified Respiratory Therapist (LCRT) certification.
- State Registered Respiratory Therapist or State Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician certification.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) or BCLS Instructor certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or PALS Instructor certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
