Senior Quality Engineer at II-VI Incorporated

II-VI Incorporated is on the lookout for a Senior Quality Engineer to enhance their Laser Systems division. This pivotal role involves the development, execution, and oversight of quality assurance and control frameworks for the Global Tools Group across North America. The Senior Quality Engineer will report to the Business Unit Leader and will work closely with the Corporate Quality team, collaborating with various departments across multiple manufacturing sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and enforce standards, methodologies, and procedures for assessing, testing, and validating product precision, accuracy, and dependability.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and management of manufacturing adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory benchmarks.
  • Design and uphold quality assurance protocols and methodologies for material processing.
  • Examine production data to detect trends and propose enhancements to quality standards.
  • Engage in the evaluation of engineering designs to ensure compliance with quality specifications.
  • Conduct vendor assessment audits and manage calibration requirements for equipment.
  • Act as the Lean Coordinator and Facility Safety Officer.
  • Undertake additional assigned responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline, or a minimum of 4 years of Quality Assurance experience.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification is advantageous.
  • At least 5 years of experience in QA/QC is preferred.
  • Prior experience with inspection methodologies in the production of electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and ISO 9001 Quality Management System Audits.
  • Experience in QA/QC roles within custom or semi-custom product-focused organizations.
  • Experience serving as an independent QA-QC resource for facilities or product lines.

  • Proficient in project planning and management.
  • Ability to influence others and drive results effectively.
  • Capable of working autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong skills in prioritization and communication.

Work Environment

  • Combination of office and manufacturing settings.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to sit and/or stand for an 8-hour shift.
