Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled SCADA Software Engineer to join our team at Mewbourne Oil Company in Hobbs, NM. As an integral part of our Instrumentation and Electrical department, you will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining our SCADA platform.

About the Role

This is a full-time exempt position that requires a strong understanding of software development principles, with a focus on creating efficient and effective solutions for our operators to interact with our facilities. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve a combination of office, field, and hands-on work.

Daily Responsibilities

You will work closely with petroleum engineers to build out new features, integrate new devices, and improve efficiency. This role offers the opportunity to make high-impact contributions to the daily operations of hundreds of employees and contractors.

Requirements
  • Python & Java Development: Strong proficiency in Python and Java programming languages is essential for this role.
  • SQL: Experience with SQL databases and ability to write complex queries is required.
  • Linux Ubuntu: Familiarity with Linux Ubuntu operating system is necessary for working with our SCADA platform.
  • Git: Knowledge of Git version control system is required for collaborative development.
  • Object Oriented Programming: Understanding of object-oriented programming concepts is essential for designing and implementing scalable solutions.
  • BASIC LAN Networking: Basic knowledge of local area network (LAN) networking principles is required.
  • Microsoft Office: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word, is necessary for data analysis and documentation.
  • Hands-on work ethic: Ability to work effectively in both office and field environments is essential.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication: Strong communication skills are required for collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Organized and self-sufficient: Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Inductive Automation Ignition 8.1 Perspective: Experience with Inductive Automation's Ignition platform, specifically version 8.1 Perspective, is highly desirable.
  • Azure DevOps: Familiarity with Azure DevOps tools and services is preferred.
  • MQTT Sparkplug B: Knowledge of MQTT protocol and Sparkplug B standard is beneficial.
  • Industrial Communication Protocols: Understanding of industrial communication protocols is desirable.
  • PLC & HMI Development Software: Experience with programmable logic controller (PLC) and human-machine interface (HMI) development software is preferred.
  • Cambium radio networks: Familiarity with Cambium radio networks is beneficial.
  • IP cameras: Experience with IP cameras is desirable.

Schedule
