Pharmacy Technician Job Description

PeaceHealth is seeking a skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting our pharmacists in providing high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Enter inpatient orders and prescriptions into the computer system
  • Prepare labels for medications to be checked by the pharmacist
  • Answer telephones and direct calls to appropriate personnel
  • Inspect medications for outdates in patient care areas
  • Prepare IVs, PCAs, Epidurals, and labels all IV products
  • Packages drugs into unit dose packaging and maintains packaging records
  • Reconstitutes medication by adding a specific quantity of distilled water
  • Run fill lists and prepares medications for Cubies or Pyxis stations
  • Delivers medications and IVs to patient care areas
  • Data enters patient charges and credits
  • Check in the order, processes invoices, credits, and backorders
  • Restocks medication on the shelves as needed
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in hospital pharmacy utilizing unit dose, IV admixtures, and pharmacy computer systems
  • Demonstrated customer service skills
  • Proficient computer and keyboarding skills, including MS Office applications
  • Good mathematical and analytical skills
  • Strong customer service skills, including excellent communication skills
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and organize workflow in a dynamic environment
Working Conditions:
  • Lifting: Occasionally up to 30 lbs.
  • Push/Pull: Occasionally up to 14 lbs. force
  • Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals
  • Mental/Visual: Vision and hearing required within normal limits
