Pharmacy Technician Job Description

PeaceHealth is seeking a skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting our pharmacists in providing high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist pharmacists in preparing medications, including IVs, PCAs, and chemotherapeutic intravenous medications.
  • Enter patient orders and prescriptions into the computer system and prepare labels for medications.
  • Answer telephones and direct calls to appropriate personnel.
  • Inspect medications for outdates and maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Prepare unit dose packaging and maintain packaging records.
  • Deliver medications and IVs to patient care areas and reconcile controlled substance inventory counts.
  • Process invoices, credits, and backorders, and restock medication shelves as needed.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred experience in hospital pharmacy or retail pharmacy.
  • Certified Pharmacy Tech - Washington.
  • Proficient computer and keyboarding skills, including MS Office applications.
  • Good mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Strong customer service skills and excellent communication skills.
Working Conditions:

Ability to move around area with occasional sitting. Occasional squatting/kneeling/bending. Fine motor skills to grasp and perform precise procedures frequently. Frequent reaching. Lift/Carry: Occasionally up to 30 lbs. Push/Pull: Occasionally up to 14 lbs. force.

Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals. Mental/Visual: Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted). Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
