Position Overview:


The primary role of the Loss Prevention Supervisor is to train, mentor, and oversee personnel in identifying and preventing theft of company assets.

Provide training and guidance to Asset Protection / Loss Prevention staff on apprehension techniques.

Support the store's mission to deliver exceptional customer service within a secure environment, ensuring optimal sales and profitability.


Macy's implements a flexible scheduling system that empowers our associates to manage their availability and preferences when creating work schedules.

During peak seasons and special events, Macy's may offer additional shifts for associates to select through our self-scheduling tool. Details regarding scheduling options will be discussed during the interview process.

Key Responsibilities:
Recruit, train, develop, and supervise Asset Protection / Loss Prevention personnel in theft detection and prevention. Design, implement, and communicate strategies to deter theft among customers and employees. Participate in initial orientation and ongoing training covering computer systems, surveillance, and alarm protocols. Address incidents involving customers and associates to provide first aid and minimize company liability. Recover stolen merchandise and apprehend individuals engaged in theft or other criminal activities against the company. Investigate criminal acts committed against customers or associates on company premises.

Prepare thorough and timely reports regarding theft incidents, merchandise recoveries, accident investigations, audits, and other tasks assigned by the AP/LP Manager.

Maintain expert knowledge of and adhere strictly to legal and company policies regarding apprehensions, searches, seizures, and evidence preservation.

Successfully complete all required security training and maintain necessary certifications as mandated by law. Conduct and oversee audits to ensure compliance with merchandise exposure standards and asset protection protocols. Cultivate and maintain relationships with local law enforcement to enhance coordination for potential criminal cases.

Testify in court regarding any case, whether criminal or civil, in which the company is involved and the Asset Protection / Loss Prevention Supervisor is summoned.

Undertake special assignments, investigations, and surveillance as directed by the Store AP/LP Manager. Respond to alarm situations at the assigned location. Perform additional duties as required.

Attendance and Qualifications:


Regular, reliable attendance and punctuality are essential. A High School Diploma or equivalent is required, along with 1-2 years of relevant experience. Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of customers and colleagues.

Resourceful and adaptable to changing priorities.

Self-motivated, capable of working independently as well as collaboratively, and able to adjust quickly to evolving demands. Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.

Physical Requirements:


This position involves prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the store or department. May occasionally require reaching above eye level, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.

Must be capable of apprehending shoplifters and enduring extended periods in surveillance areas.

Frequently lift or move items weighing up to 30 lbs.
