Job Summary

As a Loss Prevention Manager at Marriott International Inc, you will be responsible for managing the daily functions of the department to ensure the protection of property assets, employees, guests, and property. This role involves maintaining logs, certifications, and documents required by law and Standard Operating Procedures. You will also train staff in established emergency procedures and implement accident and fire prevention procedures. The position focuses on ensuring guest and employee satisfaction while achieving the operating budget.

Candidate Profile

To be successful in this role, you will need a high school diploma or GED, along with 4 years of experience in the security/loss prevention or related professional area. Alternatively, you can have a 2-year degree from an accredited university in Criminal Justice or a related major, along with 2 years of experience in the security/loss prevention or related professional area.

Core Work Activities

As a Loss Prevention Manager, your core work activities will include:

  • Assisting the Director of Engineering in administering fire prevention programs and emergency preparedness.
  • Conducting hazard and risk assessments at the property to include quarterly OSHA/SAFETY audits, incident tracking, and the hazard abatement process.
  • Developing detailed "shut down" procedures for the property to ensure that all areas are secured at the appropriate times.
  • Complying with applicable laws and safety regulations.
  • Following proper key control guidelines in loss prevention and in the property.
  • Developing a monthly checklist for all CCTV equipment, alarmed doors, and duress alarms to ensure that they are fully functional.
  • Incorporating into patrols, which encompass all areas of the property's interior and exterior, an inspection tour of recording systems.
  • Following the Duty of Care process for the protection of guests and employees.
  • Following up on all unusual activities in and around the property that would impair the well-being of guests and employees.
  • Handling complaints, settling disputes, and resolving grievances and conflicts, or otherwise negotiating with others.
  • Implementing action plans to monitor and control risk.
  • Monitoring all unusual activities in and around the property that would impair the well-being of guests and employees.
  • Overseeing all loss prevention operations to include but not limited to patrol process, emergency response, investigations (initial & follow-up) for all guest and employee-related incidents, shipping and receiving process (makes recommendations for improvement), electronic key system, and manager on duties responsibilities.
  • Overseeing and guiding the efforts of the Accident Prevention Committee.
  • Overseeing the first aid program for guests and employees.
  • Overseeing the claims process and protecting company assets by closely monitoring the General Liability and Worker's Compensation cases.
  • Communicating the importance of safety procedures, detailing procedure codes, ensuring employee understanding of safety codes, monitoring processes and procedures related to safety.
  • Emphasizing teamwork, close working relationships with other departments, and assertive hospitality to serve as a deterrent to crime.
  • Encouraging and building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
  • Providing personal assistance, medical attention, emotional support, or other personal care to others such as coworkers, customers, or patients.
  • Serving as a role model to demonstrate appropriate behaviors.
  • Utilizing interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage others; advocating sound financial/business decision making; demonstrating honesty/integrity; leading by example.

Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service

As a Loss Prevention Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring exceptional customer service by:

  • Meeting quality standards and customer expectations on a daily basis.
  • Identifying the educational needs of others, developing formal educational or training programs or classes, and teaching or instructing others.
  • Inspecting and critiquing the performance of the loss prevention department to establish and maintain a high level of professionalism and customer service.
  • Providing services that are above and beyond for customer satisfaction and retention.

Additional Responsibilities

In addition to the above responsibilities, you will also be responsible for:

  • Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Developing liaison with local law enforcement and emergency services.
  • Informing and/or updating the executives and peers on relevant information in a timely manner.
  • Providing information to supervisors and co-workers by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.

Benefits and Compensation

As a Loss Prevention Manager at Marriott International Inc, you will be eligible for a competitive salary range of $62,000 to $80,000 annually, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including a bonus program, comprehensive health care benefits, 401(k) plan with up to 5% company match, employee stock purchase plan at 15% discount, accrued paid time off (including sick leave where applicable), life insurance, group disability insurance, travel discounts, adoption assistance, paid parental leave, health savings account (except for positions based out of or performed in Hawaii), flexible spending accounts, tuition assistance, pre-tax commuter benefits, other life and work wellness benefits, and may include other incentives such as stock awards and deferred compensation plans.
