Job Description

About the Role:

This is a full-time position that involves providing examinations, diagnoses, prevention, and treatment of diseases of the teeth, jaw, and mouth in a FQHC dental setting.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough examinations and provide appropriate treatment to patients referred to the health center.
  • Discuss treatment plans with patients, families, and/or guardians, ensuring they understand their options and the expected outcomes.
  • Implement effective procedures for prophylactic antibiotic coverage before dental treatment, prioritizing patient safety and well-being.
  • Maintain accurate records of prescriptions, medications, and treatments administered to patients.
  • Take all necessary precautions when operating x-ray machines to protect patients, staff, and self.
  • Work collaboratively with dental staff to ensure seamless care delivery and efficient use of resources.
  • Foster a positive work environment that promotes transparency, learning, and open communication among team members.
  • Refer patients to specialist services as needed and participate in group conferences where expertise is required.
  • Develop and deliver educational programs for patients and staff to promote oral health awareness and best practices.
  • Ensure patient records are up-to-date and accurate, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to data protection policies.
  • Provide post-treatment instructions to patients and staff, emphasizing the importance of follow-up care and maintenance.
  • Consult with the Dental Director regarding equipment repair, new equipment purchases, and infection control policies.
  • Comply with infection control policies and procedures to prevent the spread of diseases and maintain a clean, safe environment.
  • Monitor progress of Dental Lab (prosthetic) cases, ensuring accuracy and completeness of patient records.
  • Participate in meetings, conferences, and training sessions to stay updated on best practices and advance patient care.
  • Conduct quarterly peer reviews to evaluate performance, identify areas for improvement, and enhance collaboration among team members.
Requirements and Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must possess the following qualifications:

  • Current New York State license in Dentistry.
  • CPR Certification.
  • Knowledge of eClinical Works (eCW) is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and computer skills to efficiently manage patient records and administrative tasks.
  • Able to effectively interact with patients, families, and/or guardians, demonstrating empathy and understanding.
  • Able to maintain good working relationships with colleagues, exhibiting professionalism and teamwork.
  • Exhibits high levels of professionalism and confidentiality in dealing with patient issues.
  • Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination to perform precise procedures.
  • Able to stand and sit for extended periods, tolerating extensive exposure to computer monitors and keyboards.
