Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Services Coordinator to join our team at Driscoll Children's Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Operating Room and Sterile Supply, ensuring effective nursing services are provided and quality standards are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain utmost confidentiality at all times.
  • Adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.
  • Coordinate and oversee day-to-day operations within the area of service.
  • Manage clinical quality and service orientation as measured by patient and/or customer service outcomes.
  • Promote family-centered concepts by functioning as a liaison with the family, guest relations, and appropriate personnel.
  • Function as a liaison with all service physicians and ancillary services on a day-to-day basis.
  • Identify and facilitate all risk management referrals to department Director.
  • Follow established hospital guidelines required to determine deployment of resources.
  • Identify performance issues and participate in the performance evaluation and competency assessment process as determined by department Director.
  • Support best practice through coordination with available resources.
  • Prioritize, evaluate, and communicate to adjust to rapidly changing conditions by using critical thinking skills.
  • Oversee or implement department staffing schedules and adjust to department resource needs as necessary.
  • Function as a resource in area of expertise.
  • Participate in financial decision making and provide input to department Director.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Effectively administer performance management system including: developmental feedback, goal setting, assesses competency, progressive discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of and effective in administering hospital policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for sound management of human resources.
  • Makes and implements decisions compatible with organizational goals.
  • Maintains composure, effectiveness, and flexibility under pressure.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Minimum five (3) operating room experience.
  • Prefer pediatric experience, but not required.
  • CNOR Certification or within 1 year.
  • BSN preferred.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations
  • Certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation techniques.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and/or Adult Critical Life Support (ACLS) within one year of hire.
