Position Summary

The Lead Teacher for Early Childhood Education plays a pivotal role in fostering a collaborative teaching environment, executing educational programs, and overseeing the daily operations of the classroom. This position is also responsible for the design and application of a curriculum that aligns with developmental best practices and Arizona's early learning standards, all through a trauma-informed lens.


Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitates engaging interactions with children that promote their social, cognitive, and emotional development while implementing positive behavior management strategies.
  • Continuously evaluates each child's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth to track developmental milestones.
  • Incorporates assessment findings into lesson planning to cater to the unique needs of each child.
  • Maintains a safe and secure physical environment for all children.
  • Develops a personal professional growth plan to ensure ongoing quality improvement and actively participates in quality enhancement initiatives.
  • Attends required team meetings and professional development sessions in compliance with agency and licensing standards.
  • Adheres to the directives of the Center Director and Assistant Director.
  • Ensures compliance with all center policies and state regulations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development (or equivalent) with a minimum of 2 years of teaching experience, or an Associate Degree or CDA (or equivalent) with 5 years of teaching experience.
  • Strong knowledge of child development principles and an understanding of trauma's impact on development and the significance of social-emotional skills.
  • High energy and the ability to collaborate effectively with staff, children, families, and volunteers.
  • Demonstrated capacity to engage with a culturally diverse population.
  • Effective communication skills with both children and adults, maintaining regular contact with families.
  • Ability to work with children and families who have experienced trauma.
  • Must meet training and agency requirements for the role.
  • Proof of immunizations and a negative TB test are required.
  • Certification in Infant/Child CPR and First Aid is mandatory.
  • Commitment to fostering a solution-oriented, compassionate environment that aligns with the organization's mission and values.

  • Must possess or be eligible for a valid Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Must hold a valid Arizona driver's license and be insurable under the agency's automobile policy.
