Position Overview

The On-Call Caregiver is a vital role within our organization, responsible for providing compassionate support to senior citizens in their homes. While certification as a Home Health Aide (HHA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is preferred, substantial experience with elderly clients will also be taken into account for non-certified applicants.

Note: COVID vaccination is no longer a requirement.

The primary responsibility of the On-Call Caregiver is to be accessible outside of standard business hours to assist the On Call Supervisor in addressing urgent client needs and filling last-minute staffing gaps. This role is crucial in enhancing the quality of life for clients by delivering safe and effective home health care services.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Be available On Call during designated hours and days.
  2. Receive a stipend for being On Call, in addition to hourly wages for hours worked with clients.
  3. Respond to all phone calls within 15 minutes during On Call hours, which may include late-night calls.
  4. Be prepared to leave for client visits within 30 minutes of receiving a call.
  5. Accept all assignments during On Call periods, including those in assisted living and hospice settings.
  6. Forfeit On Call stipend for non-compliance with responsibilities.
  7. Provide accurate information regarding personal health status and experience.
  8. Review client care plans prior to delivering services.
  9. Ensure reliable transportation is available for client visits during On Call periods.
  10. Communicate effectively with the agency regarding any issues or concerns.
  11. Complete required documentation accurately and promptly.
  12. Maintain client confidentiality at all times.
  13. Report any concerns regarding client abuse or neglect.
  14. Avoid discussing personal issues with clients or their representatives.
  15. Maintain access to an email account for updates and scheduling changes.
  16. Utilize personal protective equipment as per training guidelines.
  17. Keep a clean, insured vehicle that is regularly serviced.
  18. Perform all tasks as outlined in HHA, CNA, or PCA job descriptions.
