Job Summary:

The University of Maryland Medical System is seeking a skilled Nutrition Specialist to join our team. As a Nutrition Specialist, you will be responsible for providing medical nutrition therapy to adult inpatients at high nutrition risk in a fast-paced and high-acuity clinical setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently perform the nutrition care process, including nutrition assessment, diagnosis, intervention, monitoring, and evaluation, specific to age and medical status.
  • Develop an interdisciplinary nutrition plan of care for patients, within a specialty population, and attend rounds.
  • Discuss plan of nutrition care with patient/and or family; electronically document nutrition plan of care and education provided.
  • Contribute to teamwork and achievement of department goals; attend staff meetings.
  • Provide education, training, and expertise as a professional resource to members of the healthcare team, as well as dietetic interns, to advance their development in the field.
  • Attend and/or participate in various in-service, continuing education credits, and external training workshops, conferences and other relevant educational programs to maintain state licensure.
  • Utilize and integrate evidence into practice.

Requirements:

  • Advanced certification not required.
  • All levels of experience welcome.

Work Environment:

This position includes a weekend and on-call rotation.
