Electrical Systems Manager

Hyster-Yale Materials Handling Inc., a world-class manufacturer of industrial lift trucks, seeks an exceptional Electrical Systems Manager to lead our Electrical and Control Systems team in Portland, OR. With a comprehensive line of lift trucks and aftermarket parts marketed globally under the Hyster and Yale brand names, we are one of the global leaders in the Material Handling industry. This individual will have a key influence on the organization and the success of our future products. This person plays an important role in identifying and leading design/test of components and systems of new technologies and their applicability to forklift designs to address customer needs. This individual interacts with all aspects of the organization at a global level, including engineering, marketing, manufacturing, and procurement - as well as customers and suppliers - to move concepts to realities. Must be exceptional from a technical and project management perspective as well as possess the ability to develop, empower and engage teams to achieve exceptional results.

    • Ownership of product development design and validation of ICE and Electric Powertrain Systems including powershift transmissions, drive axles, ICE engine systems, and electric drives.
    • Proven experience taking customer level requirements and then developing system and component level requirements/specification
    • Supplier management and relations
    • Motivate and lead global teams through empowerment, development, and exceptional communication skills

QUALIFICATIONS:

B.S degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Master's Degree preferred

15+ years of industry experience in product development and management including:

  • Industrial/Automotive/Mobile Equipment Powertrain experience in one or more of the following areas:Powershift and/or Hydrostatic TransmissionsDrive Axle and Brake SystemsElectric Drive Systems and MotorsSpark Ignited and Diesel EnginesEngine systems such as cooling, fuel, intake and exhaust aftertreatment
  • Leading technical teams with solid project management skills
  • A proven track record of delivering high quality projects on time and on schedule
  • Understanding of vehicle communication networks including CANbus and associated protocols
  • System Integration experience, including implementing and assessing functional safety
  • Decision Making: Exhibit good judgment and a realistic understanding of issues; demonstrate ability to take decisive actions to develop product and to overcome potential project roadblocks.
  • Teamwork and Flexibility: Thrive in a team environment by working well with other employees and other departments. Solicit opinions from coworkers, support group decisions, and display team spirit. Be open minded and flexible enough to work effectively in an environment where project priorities may shift in response to customer or company needs.
