Job Opportunity

Manhattan University seeks a highly qualified candidate for a tenure-track faculty appointment at the Associate Professor level, with a focus on secondary education (grades 7-12) in the disciplines of English, social studies, or mathematics. The successful candidate will have expertise in teaching students with disabilities and a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach a variety of general education courses
  • Model excellent teaching and advising practices
  • Collaborate with Education Department faculty in programs such as Adolescence Education with Special Education and Childhood Education with Special Education
  • Oversee Departmental administration, including promoting excellence in teaching and learning
  • Develop and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with partner schools
  • Prepare and submit reports for program accreditation
  • Support student recruitment and retention
  • Foster diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging

Requirements:

  • Doctorate in a subject affiliated with adolescent education
  • Minimum of five years of successful teaching and advising in a school setting
  • Administrative experience in a school context
  • Experience teaching and administration in a higher education context
  • Strong knowledge of New York City schools
