About the Role:

  • Oversee the accounting operations of MassMutual Federal Credit Union, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial records.
  • Prepare standard internal and external financial reports, maintaining a comprehensive set of internal controls to mitigate risk and ensure compliance with GAAP and credit union regulations.
  • Collaborate with the CFO to ensure accurate accounting estimates and lead efforts to comply with FASB's current expected credit losses standard (CECL).
  • Develop and maintain a documented system of accounting internal controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage the accuracy and productivity of daily activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and general accounting.
  • Assist in budget preparation and monitoring, ensuring accounting records and reports are in compliance with GAAP and government regulations.
  • Cooperate with external auditors and regulators as needed.
  • Conduct profitability analysis and reporting, assessing the credit union's operations and products and services.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements.
  • Establish effective communications and processes within the department.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, or business.
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible work experience in a bank or credit union, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or CPA.
  • Proven knowledge of GAAP.
  • Understanding of audit functions and procedures and related regulations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret technical instructions and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
  • Familiarity with credit union accounting terminology and standards.
  • Familiarity with credit union system terminology and acronyms.
