Job Summary

The Equipment Operator is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of coal handling equipment and facilities. This role involves operating and servicing various coal handling equipment, including train unloading systems, coal moving machinery, and locomotives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Comply with Eco Material Technologies Inc. safety policies and procedures
  • Adhere to all safety and company standards while performing job functions
  • Report any safety concerns or violations to supervisor
  • Perform pre-operation and post-operation inspections of equipment to ensure proper functioning and cleanliness
  • Report any necessary equipment repairs to supervisor and safely operate equipment in accordance with manufacturer and company-approved techniques
  • Achieve maximum productivity while operating equipment
  • Complete daily lubrication and minor service on equipment
  • Check and maintain fluid levels in equipment
  • Ensure equipment is properly cleaned, serviced, and stored at the end of each shift
  • Clean tracks or wheels and moving components on equipment
  • Regular attendance, timeliness, and scheduling flexibility
Requirements
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Demonstrate ability to safely operate and maintain equipment
  • Working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to equipment operations
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and training or certification in a relevant skill or trade
  • 1-2 years' experience in a relevant field
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • Exposure to sounds or noise levels that may be uncomfortable
  • Prolonged standing on concrete or in a stationary position for up to 10 hours per workday
  • Repetitive movements
  • Moderate to high physical effort required
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (hearing, vision, and hardhat protection)
  • Lift/move/transport items up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to move or traverse about the facilities
  • Must be able to ascend/descend stairs or ladders
  • Ability to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditions
