Position Overview: Multi-Modality Technologist

Job Summary:

The primary role of a Multi-Modality Technologist involves executing and generating images across a combination of two imaging procedures, including but not limited to CT, XR, or MRI.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct imaging procedures across any two modalities, such as XR, CT, MRI, ARRT, or RDMS.
  • Operate imaging equipment and accessories safely to minimize risks to patients and equipment.
  • Select appropriate imaging techniques and sequences based on various clinical factors.
  • Possess knowledge of workflows, procedures, and protocols related to imaging modalities.
  • Perform venipuncture, including the initiation, maintenance, and removal of intravenous access.
  • Ensure radiation safety and other protective measures specific to the modalities.
  • Gather and confirm patient clinical histories and laboratory results.
  • Utilize Point of Care (POC) devices for laboratory work.

Educational Requirements:

  • Associate's degree from an ARRT accredited institution in an approved Nuclear Medicine Technology program or an accredited School of Ultrasound/Medical Sonography (preferred).
  • Associate of Applied Science in Imaging (preferred).

Licensure and Certification:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (preferred).
  • State Licensure Certification (preferred or required by the state of practice).
  • Registration with ARRT, RDMS, or CNMT (required).
  • Competency in two of the following modalities and certification within 12 months is required:
    • Bone Densitometry (BD)
    • Breast Sonography (BS)
    • Radiologic Technology (R)
    • Computed Tomography (CT)
    • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR)
    • Ultrasonography (S)
    • Nuclear Medicine (N)
    • Cardiovascular Interventional Radiography (CV)
    • Cardiac Interventional Radiography (CI)
    • Cardiac Sonographer (CS)
    • Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI)
    • Mammography (M)
    • Vascular Sonography (VS)
    • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT)

Experience:

At least one year of experience in a healthcare setting (preferred).

Training:

  • Familiarity with EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems (preferred).
  • Experience with Picture Archiving Communication Systems (PACS) (preferred).
  • Knowledge of Radiology Information Systems (RIS) (preferred).
  • Training in IV Contrast Administration (preferred).

Work Schedule:

Minimum coverage of one shift per week is required.
