Position Overview

Viaero Fiber Networks is on the lookout for a dedicated Material Transport Specialist who will play a crucial role in the logistics of our projects. This position involves the efficient delivery, loading, and unloading of materials at various project locations. The specialist will also assist in managing inventory at staging areas and maintain cleanliness throughout the project sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with office personnel and suppliers to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Monitor and document all inventory being unloaded at staging areas, including scanning and uploading Bills of Lading (BOL) to the office.
  • Transport materials from the warehouse to project sites using vehicles such as box trucks, pickups, or semi-trailers.
  • Handle a variety of materials, including Fiber Optic cable reels, conduits, and vaults, as well as return empty conduits.
  • Operate various types of equipment, including box trucks, dually pickups, semi-trailers, excavators, skid steers, and telehandlers for loading and transferring materials.
  • Assist in site clean-up by transporting materials back to the warehouse or other project locations.
  • Keep track of project materials and perform cycle counts as needed.
  • Ensure all delivery vehicles are maintained and kept clean.
  • Carry out additional tasks as assigned by supervisors or management.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a Class A CDL or obtain one within six weeks of employment.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of all equipment used during shifts.
  • Pass a DOT Physical examination.
  • Minimum age of 21 years with a clean driving record and ability to pass pre-employment checks.
  • Experience operating Telehandlers, Donkeys, and Forklifts is required.
  • Comfortable with hauling loads that may exceed standard DOT limits, requiring oversized load permits.
  • Previous experience in construction or heavy equipment operation is advantageous.
  • Exhibit a team-oriented attitude with a focus on safety.
  • Proficient in using GPS for efficient site navigation.
  • Basic computer skills for inventory tracking, including familiarity with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours during peak construction seasons, including occasional overnight stays.
  • Capable of performing physically demanding tasks, such as breaking down and stacking empty conduit reels for return.
  • Knowledge of proper truck loading techniques and load distribution as per DOT regulations.
