ESL Specialist

Morgan Community College is seeking a dedicated ESL Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with English Language Learners (ELLs) to identify their needs, provide direct services, and track progress toward goals.

This is a grant-funded position through the Title V, MI CASA program, and the ESL Specialist will play a vital role in promoting opportunities for inclusion and valuing differences.

• Analyze the needs of ELLs and develop strategies to support their language development
• Provide direct services to ELLs, including language instruction and support
• Track progress toward goals and make data-driven decisions to improve services
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to promote a positive and inclusive learning environment
• Develop and maintain relationships with community partners to support ELLs

• Associate degree in a related field from an accredited college or university
• Bilingual in English/Spanish, with the ability to interpret and translate verbal and written material
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and promote a positive and inclusive learning environment
• Experience working with ELLs and knowledge of language acquisition principles

• Knowledge of assessment and evaluation methods
• Experience working in a community college or university setting
• Technical skills to support assessment and continuous improvement of retention services

• A competitive salary range of $43,100 to $49,565
