Job Summary:
The Ophthalmic Assistant is a vital member of our healthcare team at Guthrie, providing clinical support and patient care services in our ophthalmology department. As a skilled and detail-oriented professional, you will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain and document accurate patient information, including chief complaint and comprehensive history of present illness.
- Perform ophthalmic exams, diagnostic testing, and procedures, accurately documenting findings and results.
- Assist providers with office procedures, informed consent, and patient education.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to infection control protocols and inventory management.
- Process forms, review schedules, and respond to patient inquiries as directed by providers.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
- Completion of Ophthalmic Scribe Certification (OSC) within 6 weeks of employment.
- Preferred: Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Paraoptometric Assistant (POA) certification.
- 2+ years of clinical experience in ophthalmology or optometry practice, or medical office/clinical assistant experience.
Working Conditions:
This role requires flexibility, self-motivation, and excellent communication skills. Travel to other offices may be required, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment is essential.
Compensation:
$16.00-$25.16/hour
