Position Overview:

Delivers direct nursing care in alignment with established protocols and procedures of the healthcare organization.

Key Responsibilities and Qualifications:

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Implements medical-surgical nursing standards to enhance the quality of care and life for patients, families, and significant others by systematically assessing the effectiveness of nursing practices.
  • Builds effective relationships and advocates for patients, families, and significant others to create personalized care plans.
  • Utilizes the nursing process to formulate and execute care plans, gather assessment data, establish nursing diagnoses, identify expected outcomes, and evaluate patient results.
  • Develops assessment and management strategies considering various dimensions of human responses to health issues.
  • Demonstrates understanding of the effects of actual or potential illnesses on each patient's overall status.
  • Employs leadership skills to coordinate with patients, families, communities, and interprofessional teams in assessing needs and planning interventions.
  • Engages in effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare providers to ensure culturally sensitive and ethical care.
  • Educates patients and families on health maintenance and restoration measures.
  • Promotes a healthy work environment by mentoring and modeling professional nursing practices.
  • Applies evidence-based practices in medical-surgical nursing to ensure age-specific and clinical needs are met.
  • Maintains a constant state of alertness and safety.
  • May conduct point-of-care testing in accordance with established policies.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program or equivalent education for licensure.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of one year of registered nursing experience (Ministry Float) or two years of registered nursing experience (Regional Float).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Frequent oral communication.
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Regular lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, reaching, and data entry.
  • Regular visual acuity for near and far distances.
  • Frequent use of smell and hearing for patient care.
  • Occasional lifting/moving of patients and objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional driving and physical activities.
