Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Critical Care Nurse to join our team at HCA Healthcare's Alaska Regional Hospital. As a Critical Care Nurse, you will provide critical care expertise and excellent patient care on our intensive care unit. You will demonstrate clinical competency, nursing judgment, teaching skills, and a commitment to providing quality patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Prioritize nursing care for assigned critically ill patients based on assessment data and identifies needs for intervention.
  • Demonstrate appropriate decision making, critical thinking and clinical judgment to make nursing decisions and identify health care needs.
  • Evaluate and document each patient's response to medications, interventions, and procedures.
  • Assist in the formulation, coordination, and implementation of the patient's Plan of Care based on the assessment of their individual needs.
  • Monitor basic EKG, recognize rhythms and have the ability to intervene as needed.
  • Assist the physician with procedures such as intubation, line placement and chest tubes.
  • Ensure ventilator, monitors and other equipment are functioning properly and will be able to trouble shoot alarms.
  • Demonstrate an ability to be flexible, organized and function well under stressful situations.
  • Collaborate with fellow members of the critical care team.
Requirements
  • Current Alaska nursing license in good standing.
  • Associate's Degree in nursing required, Bachelor's preferred.
  • One-year critical care experience required; Two years preferred.
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification.
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certified (ACLS).
