Role Summary:
Sovah Health - Martinsville is looking for a PRN Respiratory Therapist Tier IV to assess patients with respiratory conditions and perform diagnostic evaluations. You will collaborate with physicians to create and execute treatment plans, administer therapies, and educate patients on medication usage. Responsibilities include:
- Conducting lung capacity measurements and analyzing blood samples with a blood gas analyzer.
- Administering prescribed therapies and monitoring patient responses.
- Reviewing respiratory care protocols based on patient outcomes and current best practices.
- Responding to emergency situations and providing necessary treatments.
- Educating patients and families about respiratory conditions and available community resources.
- Managing inventory of respiratory supplies and ensuring equipment maintenance.
- Performing preventative maintenance and sterilization of respiratory equipment.
- Delivering therapeutic interventions for patients with acute and chronic respiratory issues.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Care Program with an A.A.S. degree or equivalent.
Essential Skills:
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making abilities.
- Physical capability to handle patients and equipment, including lifting and maneuvering.
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments.
Licensure Requirements:
- Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in Virginia.
- Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (CRT or RRT).
Experience:
- Minimum of 18 months of RRT hospital experience or 36 months of CRT hospital experience.
