We are seeking a skilled Nurse II to join our team in Cumberland County, NC. This is a 10-month, 35 hours per week professional nursing position that provides primary, secondary and rehabilitative care to students in public schools, home and communities.
The successful candidate will practice independently and demonstrate autonomous decision-making skills. The primary purpose is to promote health and prevent disease in the school, home and community. The position serves to manage, consult, develop, execute and evaluate plans that impact student health.
The estimated annual salary for this position is around $65,000-$80,000 based on national averages for similar roles. Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and managing the school health program in assigned schools
- Providing assessment, planning and evaluation of the health services component of the school health program
- Providing or arranging for routine health assessments
- Assuring mandated health related activities are completed
- Serving as coordinator of the health services program and providing nursing care
- Providing health education to students, staff and parents
- Managing the student health record
- Serving as liaison between student, parent, school personnel, physicians, hospitals and the Exceptional Children's Program as it relates to health issues and student health care plans
This position may require the nurse to provide contraception methods subject to appropriate training and staffing cross-coverage needs. The nurse may also be required to respond to public health emergencies, including outbreak investigations, staffing mass dispensing or immunization clinics, providing disaster relief, or other incidents as they arise.
