Humanities Educator Grade 5 Substitute

The Humanities Educator plans, organizes, presents, and evaluates an instructional program for students in areas assigned under the jurisdiction of the principal or appropriate supervisor.
Key Responsibilities- Compliance and Governance: Adhere to all published and disseminated rules, regulations, and policies of the Board of Education.
- Instructional Leadership: Instruct, guide, discipline, and supervise students in accordance with Naugatuck Public Schools' goals and objectives, the Professional Code of Responsibilities, the Connecticut Common Core of Teaching, and the Connecticut Common Core of Learning.
- Student Confidentiality: Respect the privacy of students and their families.
- Cultural Sensitivity: Acknowledge and respect individual differences among students, providing them with appropriate educational experiences.
- Progress Monitoring: Monitor student progress in accordance with indicators of pupil progress, such as teacher observation, formal and informal evaluation, cumulative pupil records, and parental conferences.
- Student Improvement Plans: Assist in the development and implementation of individual student improvement plans.
- Student Support: Bring to the attention of appropriate school personnel students who may require the assistance of district specialists.
- Record Keeping: Maintain records and reports as required under state law and administrative regulations, such as attendance, grades, classroom inventory, and recommendations for budgetary items.
- Collaboration and Communication: Assist administration in developing reasonable rules for student behavior and procedures for the teacher's specific area of responsibility, establishing and maintaining sound relationships with students, parents, fellow teachers, nonteaching personnel, and administrators.
- Professional Development: Participate in activities that promote professional enhancement.
- Staff Meetings: Attend staff meetings in accordance with Board of Education regulations.
- Curriculum Awareness: Maintain awareness of new developments in the field, changes in federal and state guidelines, and changes within the curriculum approved by the Board of Education.
- Instructional Delivery: Deliver instruction in accordance with the areas of content as presented in the curriculum and grades which are addressed in the Connecticut State Frameworks.
- Additional Duties: Perform additional duties, where appropriate, which are assigned within the scope of employment and certification.
