As a skilled Machine Builder at Automation Engineering Company, you will play a crucial role in assembling and fabricating parts, pieces, or products using a variety of tools and equipment according to required specifications with minimal supervision. Your expertise in measuring parts and ability to read and understand assembly and detail drawings will be essential in ensuring the quality and accuracy of our products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret mechanical assembly blueprints to verify part dimensions using precision instruments.
- Perform quality checks on products and parts to ensure they meet our high standards.
- Package finished products and prepare them for shipment, adhering to our company's logistics and transportation procedures.
- Read work orders or other instructions to determine product specifications or materials requirements, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tasks.
- Utilize operational procedures and work instructions to produce high-quality parts or components, adhering to our company's quality control policies.
- Prepare work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists, gathering necessary tools, materials, and subassemblies.
- Position parts and subassemblies using templates or reading measurements, ensuring accurate placement and alignment.
- Assemble components by examining connections for correct fit, fastening parts and subassemblies, and verifying specifications.
- Resolve assembly problems by altering dimensions when directed by the production supervisor to meet specifications, notifying the supervisor to obtain additional resources as needed.
- Maintain equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and calling for repairs.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, adhering to our company's health and safety policies.
- Maintain supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory levels, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies, and verifying receipt of supplies.
- Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results, adhering to our company's sustainability and environmental policies.
- Document actions by completing production and quality forms, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed, collaborating with colleagues to achieve our company's goals and objectives.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; six months of experience in assembly-related field preferred.
- Military service with a related MOS is a plus.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, hand-eye coordination, and manual dexterity to work with small plastic and metal components in a high-volume manufacturing setting.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend English, as well as utilize basic math skills.
Work Environment:
Most work is performed in an office and shop environment, with regular trips to client facilities and/or manufacturing plants required. Sound knowledge of safety standards within the shop and manufacturing environment, including exposure to regulated hazardous chemicals and equipment, is necessary to safely use and operate in such environments.
At times, travel will be required, as well as working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays to support client needs during shutdowns and/or scheduled maintenance.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move between standing and sitting, frequently walking, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, reaching with hands and arms, including pushing and pulling, talking, hearing, and seeing to communicate and ensure safety procedures are followed. The employee must frequently lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
