Financial Planning Manager

The Financial Planning Manager will be responsible for coordinating, compiling, and reviewing operating and capital expenditure budgets to achieve desired goals and objectives. This role will also provide consultation to operating departments on financial modeling and forecasting to establish and maintain financial and budgetary accountability.
Main Responsibilities:
- Develop and refine budgeting techniques to provide leadership with optimum financial control and planning tools.
- Provide consultation to operating departments on financial modeling and forecasting to establish and maintain financial and budgetary accountability.
- Analyze data and offer recommendations to senior leadership, which are in line with Advocate Aurora Health's strategic vision and objectives.
- Identify and benchmark financial opportunities and trends using business and industry analysis.
- Manage, explain, and interpret close results for site(s) or service line leadership.
- Serve as a resource/liaison for site(s) or service line leadership, corporate finance staff, and departments that directly affect the financial performance.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulatory and payer requirements.
- Interpret and enforce system, region, PSA, site, and entity policies and procedures to ensure the smooth operation of financial functions and department operations.
- Perform human resources responsibilities for staff, including interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale.
- Develop and recommend operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance or related field.
- Typically requires 5 years of experience in finance or accounting, including 1 year of supervisory experience in budgeting, financial forecasting, modeling, and planning.
- Excellent communication skills essential in order to interact effectively with all levels of management and staff.
- Demonstrated ability to explain complex financial issues to non-financial staff and leadership.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) or similar products.
- Ability to use accounting and financial software, systems, and data retrieval techniques.
- Strong analytical skills, including ability to review quantitative and qualitative data and reach sound conclusions.
- Strong understanding of health care dynamics and economics as it relates to the profitability of various services and the margin contribution available with marginal investment.
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to operate all equipment essential in performing the job.
- Generally will be exposed to a normal office environment.
- This position requires some travel; so will be exposed to weather and road conditions.
