Job Title: Assistant Controller

Reporting to the Controller, this role involves daily communication with the CFO and full ownership of the Accounting & Finance function. As the Assistant Controller, you will lead and mentor a team of 5+ individuals, driving key process improvements to create efficiencies within the organization.

Our client is a high-growth, privately held, global manufacturer of world-class products located in the North Suburbs of Chicago. The company is expanding through strategic acquisitions and seeks an Assistant Controller to join their team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation of timely and accurate financial statements in compliance with relevant accounting standards.
  • Collaborate with the Controller to analyze financial data and provide insights to support decision-making.
  • Participate in the month-end and year-end close processes, including preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and reviewing financial statements for accuracy.
  • Contribute to the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing financial information and analysis to assist in strategic planning.
  • Analyze variances between budgeted and actual results, providing explanations and recommendations for improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and other departments, to gather and analyze financial information.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff.
  • Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and share knowledge with the team.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • Experience in accounting or finance roles, with a manufacturing company.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and other relevant accounting standards.
  • Proficient in accounting software and MS Office, with advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
