Job Summary

Northtowns Ambulatory Surgery Center, LLC is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Surgical Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our clinical staff, the Surgical Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of scheduling surgical procedures in accordance with Federal, State, and surgery center policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Scheduling: Schedules all procedures to be performed in the facility, ensuring that all necessary patient demographic, health, and insurance information is obtained from physician's offices accurately.
  • Procedure Coordination: Maintains a copy of medical staff member's Delineation of Privileges to determine appropriateness of scheduled procedures, and notifies the clinical director if questions arise.
  • Priority Management: Considers priorities and patient/equipment special needs when scheduling surgical procedures, ensuring that appointments and procedures are scheduled according to nursing and anesthesia staff availability, patient needs, and physician's block time.
  • Schedule Management: Regulates the schedule according to procedure and physician's time and staffing requirements, coordinates the schedule with time and equipment availability, and identifies conflicts and adjusts the schedule as needed.
  • Communication: Prepares the final surgery schedule for timely distribution, and distributes schedules to appropriate areas to ensure that required staff and supplies are available.
  • Collaboration: Works with the nurse manager to network with and market to physician office schedulers, and collaborates with the front desk coordinator to ensure that all insurance information is captured and recorded to facilitate insurance billing and collection of patient responsibility.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Graduate; some College preferred.
  • Experience: Prior experience in surgical services, with prior scheduling experience preferred.
  • Skills: Computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel, with strong written and verbal communication, administrative, and organizational skills.
Working Conditions
  • Physical Demands: Ability to sit/stand for a considerable amount of time, ability to walk, visual and auditory acuity for frequent use of computer, telephone, and occasional use of other office equipment.
  • Environmental Conditions: Well-lit and ventilated, with non-hazardous and hazardous equipment, Category III: involves occupational exposure to blood and other potentially infectious body fluids and materials.
