Job Responsibilities

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you'll be responsible for leading a team of engineers and designers on substation design projects, including:

  • Advanced understanding of utility substation design to include equipment arrangements.
  • Ability to read, interpret, design, and engineer Physical Designs for utilities through 500kV.
  • Ability to lead a team of engineers and designers in a lead engineer capacity.
  • Proficient in principles of project management.
  • Create Substation Physical design project scopes, estimates, budgets, and schedules for substation projects.
  • Ability to perform studies, calculations, reports, and design for electrical substations (Low, Medium, and High Voltage).
Requirements
  • 4+ years utility substation physical design experience up to 500kV.
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited Engineering Program OR an approved evaluation of non-ABET credentials by NCEE.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards, such as: NEC, NESC, IEEE, NEMA and ANSI.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate with project engineers, designers and client representatives.
  • Ability to interact with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Proficient in practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, and preparing and presenting recommendations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or the ability to be licensed within one year.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5-10 years of substation design experience.
  • AutoCAD, MicroStation, and/or Bluebeam experience.
  • Substation lightning protection and grounding plan experience.
  • Software experience with Visual Lighting, CDEGS, WinIGS.
